Wedding Cupcakes @ Independence Harbor, Assonet, Massachusetts

Wedding cupcakes are little cakes meant to be eaten, this is not to be said that cake is not to be eaten, but for some reason cupcakes scream, "Eat Me!" which is why I really prefer them for any wedding!

These little cakes inluded toppers of hand made sugarpaste calla lillies colored individually in fall tones: cranberry, orange burst, and ivory.

Flavors included: lemon cake with vanilla buttercream, chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream. We included three distinct toppers to indicate to guests the different flavors. One the cake table we included a card this reads...."Vanilla butter cupcakes with chocolate ganache buttercream, white calla lilly" and so on.

Sugar Paste Flowers: Gerbera Daisies

I love the process of flower making and so does our resident arist: Jodi. Although her original mediums of choice were clay and acrylic paint she has adapted well to sugarpaste and edible paint(food colors mixed with lemon extract).

Here are some pretty gerbera daisies she was in the process of making today....

Although she can spend up to 4 minutes on these little flowers and 2 hours on one large magnolia blossom, don't let her time fool you....she actually has the best spot in the bakery: climate controlled at 63 degrees with 50% humidity. And by the way, the rest of the bakery was running around 87 degrees today with 80% humidity.

Monsterous CupCakes

We created these cupcakes for a Kids' Table at a wedding recently held at Wamsutta Club in New Bedford. I love the idea of a kids' table and for that matter "Kid's Only" CupCakes - can't you remember going to weddings as a youngster and waiting for the cake to be served and falling asleep well before the ceremonial cake cutting!

Vintage 1969 Antique Rambler Car Cake

We created this cake for a "car collector" this was his favorite in his collection. Even the color was true to the original and many of the little details including the bumper, lights, and grill were pulled from the original pictures.

The cake featured our devilish chocolate flavor.

Abby Cadabby Cake

We sculpted this Abby Cadabby figure for the top of a birthday cake using sugarpaste and modeling chocolate. Her coloring and dress were made to match the plates at the party. The three dimensional frigures are a great alternative to our flat-art cakes and trust us-- kids love to eat them too!
The cake included fun multicolored borders along with a sprinkling of fairy dust over the entire cake!

Tartlets: Lemon Cream & Fresh Fruit

I have been posting so many cakes lately, that I think it's time for some pastries. Here is a shot of our single serving tarts. The tarts on the bottom feature a pate sucre sugar cookie crust with vanilla bean pastry cream and fresh fruit. The tarts on the top also have a pate sucre sugar cookie crust only with a pleasing tart, yet sweet, lemon curd and a quenelle of whipped cream. Honestly, the perfect ending to any meal.

Barn Cake

This barn cake was delivered to New Bedford, Massachusetts for a 3rd birthday party. Horses, ducks, cows and pigs were some of the animals living on the "edible farm". A fun fence surrounded the bottom cake, we hand shingled the roof in tiny fodant circles. A pile of hay, duck pond complete with reeds, and classic barn doors completed the design. The cake flavor was alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla.

Oldies but Goodies

Here are some cakes from past years. Some are classic buttercream cakes with hods to the 1950's - 1970's. Others are fun designed focused around the seashore, sea shells
1)Small cupcake tier display on our small cupcake stand, with edible organic flower blossoms
2)Classic buttercream cake with real seashells and classic piping
3)Buttercream design in chartreuse green with fun fondant flowers with a tropical flair
