Children's Birthday Cakes: Sesame Street CupCakes

These Sesame Street character cupcakes were created this past weekend for a kid's birthday and let me tell you they were the hit of the bakery!

Elmo, Grover, Cookie Monster, Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch were perched atop the cupcakes along with Cookie Monsters Cookies and Yellow Stars perched atop green icing (signature Sesame Street Colors)

The Sesame Street theme song along with Cookie Monsters theme song "C is for Cookie" were hummed all day long- we did apologize to all of our customers that day!

The cupcake flavors included vanilla butter, devilish chocolate and red velvet.

Two Tiered Elmo Cake

This two tiered buttercream cake was created for a Elmo Sesame Street cake for a 2nd birthday party. Bright colors, tiny block letters, and balloons decorate the sides of the cake. A 3-D Elmo sits atop the top tier made out of sugarpaste. I love tiered cakes that include an inscription on the side, it stands out so well!

Lily Pulizter Inspired Birthday Cake

This third birthday cake was inspired by Lily Pulitzer a clothing line known for its brights fushia pink and chartreuse lime green color palettes.

This simple round buttercream cake is decorated with hot pink and lime green sugarpaste polka dots. The hot pink whimsical "3" is a great substitute for a traditional birthday inscription.

Whimsical & Sculpted: First Flowery Birthday

This two tiered cake was created for a first birthday party in Taunton Massachusetts. We created large daisies on tall stems and fun flowers buds to create a neat 3-d design! The two tiers were decorated with polka dots and stripes in lime green, kelly green, hot pink, and dark chocolate brown.

A three dimensional "1" stands on top of the top tier for the birthday girl!

We delivered this cake to a private residence in Kingston, Massachusetts

Whimsical & Sculpted: Tea Pot Cake

We created this fun and whimsical tea pot cake for a little girls tea party! Bright colors or hot pink, royal blue, kelly green, and pearl white were the colors of the day.

Tiny flowers filled the tea pot on tiny stems with green leaves. Squiggly pearls jump out from the cake as well!

We included the inscription on the side of the cake and a string of pearls makes the perfect finish at the base of each tier.

We delivered this cake to Marion, Massachusetts.

Whimsical & Sculpted: Jester Cake

We created this two tiered fondant cake for a little girls birthday party on the North Shore of Massachusetts. It's tall diamonds and fun bold colors make it a great addition to an Alice in Wonderland or Court Jester themed party. Fun handmade sugar flowers and 3D pearl shooting out of the top make a great presentation. A plaque from sugarpaste was added with a Happy Birthday inscription!

First Birthday: Minnie Mouse Cake @ Pocasset, Massachusetts

My niece turned one a few weeks ago, she's the only little one in the family so her 1st birthday party was a big deal and she was the princess at the party. Minnie Mouse was the theme and her two tiered cake featured pinks, black, white, and even included seasonal zinnias. Minnie Mouses ears adorned the top along with a big "1".

Here is Makayla's First 1st Birthday Smash Cake!

Here is Makayla decked out in her new Minnie Mouse "couture"!

Her cake included two tiers: one chocolate one vanilla with vanilla buttercream filling all covered in fondant.

Seashore Themed Cake

We created these cakes for a party at The Bay Club in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.

Dual parties for three teenagers with a theme of the sea shore with pale seafoams, shades of blue and ocean greens were on the table for the color scheme. We created a round three tiered whimsical wave cake design with a pale seafoam background and dark "tiffany blue" wave pattern around the circumference of each tier. The topper included three real starfish each representative of the three girls.

The second cake is a mod circle design also in ocean and sea colors to match the decor and floral centerpieces at the event.

These two cakes show the diversity of color and shape and how similar yet different cakes in the same color scheme can be.

Monsterous CupCakes

We created these cupcakes for a Kids' Table at a wedding recently held at Wamsutta Club in New Bedford. I love the idea of a kids' table and for that matter "Kid's Only" CupCakes - can't you remember going to weddings as a youngster and waiting for the cake to be served and falling asleep well before the ceremonial cake cutting!

Tinkerbelle Themed 4th Birthday

Fairy dust, mushrooms, whimsical flowers and leaves adorned this two tiered Tinkbelle themed 4th birthday cake.

Each year we create a spectacular cake for Ava- and this year she was able to choose her own theme-- Tinkerbelle! Jodi (our resident artist) created the mushrooms, daisies, and ribbon roses as well as trays and trays of leaves to cover the cake. My favorite part was the bow- a simple two loop classic bow in a pale lavendar.

Actually my most favorite part of the cake was Ava's individual cake- I think it would make a great topper for a cupcake stand with mushroom and daisy cupcakes below-- watch for that on the blog soon- I think we'll make a sample up for the studio!

Two Happy Princesses

We received the most adorable pictures from a customer who ordered a cake for her two princesses- twins Sophie & Bella!

Their cake, featured a BIG pink crown with red accents wrapped around the entire cake. I love these cakes for little ones- first of all they have the appeal of a fondant cake without the fondant but they are totally adorable!

The cake flavor was altnerating layers of chocolate and vanilla cake with bakery style icing- yum!

Abby Cadabby Cake

We sculpted this Abby Cadabby figure for the top of a birthday cake using sugarpaste and modeling chocolate. Her coloring and dress were made to match the plates at the party. The three dimensional frigures are a great alternative to our flat-art cakes and trust us-- kids love to eat them too!
The cake included fun multicolored borders along with a sprinkling of fairy dust over the entire cake!
