Wedding Cake: Ruched Pleats of Fondant with Victorian Lavender Tulips and Pink Roses

The pleats and ruching of fondant all started with these two cake designs (one was based off of a Cheryl Kleiman Cake for Alyssa Milano's wedding)...

It has become so popular with our brides! Here is a recent cake with two ruched round tiers separated by a square tier which included a script monogram. Victorian lavender colored sugar tulips and pink sugar roses serve as a topper and side adornments.

Here is the lovely note we received from the bride:

Hi Meredith,
I just wanted to say thank you for our wedding cake. It was beautiful and tasted delicious as well. The tulips were amazing! I am attaching a few pictures from my photographer. Thanks again!

Erin Winters

We delivered the cake to Cafe Funchal in New Bedford, MA.

Round Buttercream Cake: The Marriage of "Q" & "U"

Bev, is the mom here at the bakery, and actually she is Meredith, the owner's, Mom. Sometimes she has some pretty funny requests, mostly due to the fact that she is a kindergarten teacher. And ever the kindergarten teacher she requested a cake for the marriage of the letters "Q" and "U" that she will be celebrating with her class at Rochester Memorial School tomorrow. Don't you wish your kindergarten teacher was that cool!

She even requested that the cake be all in white- no joke!

So here is it folks, a wedding cake for the letters "Q" and "U"....

Wedding Cake @ Lebaron Hills Country Club

This simple four tiered hexagonal wedding cake was piped simply and classically for an elegant reception at the Lebaron Hills Country Club in Lakeville Massachusetts.

This design and piping technique is reminiscent of cakes from the late 1980's and early 1990's, many years before fondant and sugarpaste were popular options for wedding and celebration cakes.

Old Hollywood Wedding @ OceanCliff Hotel

This classic white fondant wedding cake featured an open peony which measured 6 1/2" in diameter. The bride asked for a simple white old hollywood theme. We also covered the board which the cake sat on in Navy Blue fondant and trimmed it our in black satin ribbon to match the Navy Blue and Black bridesmaid dresses.

The cake flavor was lemon buttermilk with alternating layers of seasonal berries and vanilla buttercream.

Here is what Nicole had to say about us on the wedding website www.TheKnot.com Message Board for Rhode Island:

"Cake - The Artisan Kitchen Rochester, MA A+
Very affordable, beautiful and extremely delicious cake. Way better than any of the cakes I tasted while looking at the high-end RI bakeries."

A White Wedding Cake @ Kittansett Club Marion, MA

It isn't too often that a simply white wedding cake crosses our path at The Artisan Kitchen.

Our signature bow, tiny daisies, and a simply elegant crosshatch pattern covered this cake for a fabulous wedding at Kittansett Club on Buzzards Bay in Marion Massachusetts. The three-loop bow, made to look more casual (Margaret, the bride, called it "floppy") made quite a statement. The cake featured lemon cake with altnernating layers of raspberry marmalade and lemon buttercream filling.
