Ocean Teal Shower Cake

Nautical themes are always IN on the South Coast and our hand-cast seashells, starfish, and sand dollars are a favorite. In ocean teal with a ruffled buttercream base tiny hydrangea blossoms and sugar "sand" complete the design.

Wedding Cake: Buttercream Tiers with Real & White Chocolate Seashells, Silvershell Beach, Marion Massachusetts

Every once in a while we pick out an oldie-but-goodie photo- this happens to be a scan of a photo- i apologize for the blur! This wedding cake, from 2004, features four tiers of ivory buttercream with real and white chocolate seashells. A champagne ribbon wraps the bottom of each tier along with a crowning of ruskus leaves on the table.

This round buttercream wedding cake is very tall and slender which gives it a contemporary feel.

This cake was for a wedding at Silvershell Beach in Marion, Massachusetts.

Wedding Cupcakes @ Cape Cod: Waves & Whales

We created this fun wedding cupcake display for a wedding on Cape Cod. Blue waves and little whimsical whale cupcake toppers were on the menu for the bride and groom who work for an institution which studies and saves whale and other ocean wildlife.

We created this stand with the large cupcake display.

Funny things happen when you use Google....

Just like every other cake designer, I find myself pouring over current issues of cake and wedding magazines for those new trends or ideas and just to get a head start on what pictures are going to be in my brides' hands this year. I also find myself "Googling" cake phrases & such. Ironically, as I googled "Blue Starfish Cake" today I found a familiar cake in a block of photos on www.squidoo.com which allows you to make single web pages.

This teal and red starfish cake has always been one of my favorites and thanks to New England Clam Jams, Lyn Keith, for the photos!

You can find the article here:

Our nautical starfish wedding cake is the one in the top left hand corner from a wedding at the New Bedford Yacht Club in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts!

Buttercream Flat Art Cakes: Daisies & Sailboats

We created this square buttercream cake for an 80th birthday this summer. Sailboats and daisies were the theme for the birthday girl. Classic white daisies with pale yellow centers are a favorite around here for that classic and feminine birthday cake. Topped off with a light sprinkle of tiny white non-pareils -- it is a simple and elegant combination.

Lobster Bake Cake @ Falmouth Yacht Club

We created this lobster bake cake for a recent wedding at the Falmouth Yacht Club in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod.

In order to create a realistic Cape Cod Clam Bake we hand sculpted ears of corn, three dimensional quahog and clam shells, razor clams, and muscles from sugar paste. Seaweed was also sculpted in all shades of green and sugar sand was added as well.

In order to make this a true Massachusetts cake the cake flavor was Boston Cream: Vanilla Cake layered with Chocolate Ganache Buttercream and Vanilla Pastry Cream!

We delivered the cake to the reception at the Falmouth Yacht Club in Falmouth, Massachusetts.

Here is what they had to say about the cake:

Dear Meredith,
Thank you so much for the amazing lobster cake. It was perfect (and delicious), and everybody loved it!!!
Cheers,
-Chris

Seashore Themed Cake

We created these cakes for a party at The Bay Club in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.

Dual parties for three teenagers with a theme of the sea shore with pale seafoams, shades of blue and ocean greens were on the table for the color scheme. We created a round three tiered whimsical wave cake design with a pale seafoam background and dark "tiffany blue" wave pattern around the circumference of each tier. The topper included three real starfish each representative of the three girls.

The second cake is a mod circle design also in ocean and sea colors to match the decor and floral centerpieces at the event.

These two cakes show the diversity of color and shape and how similar yet different cakes in the same color scheme can be.
