Ocean Teal Shower Cake

Nautical themes are always IN on the South Coast and our hand-cast seashells, starfish, and sand dollars are a favorite. In ocean teal with a ruffled buttercream base tiny hydrangea blossoms and sugar "sand" complete the design.

Tiered Butercream Cake: Kayak and Wave Cake with Woodgrain Happy Birthday Sign in Chocolate

We created this two tiered buttercream cake for a celebration recently, a sugarpaste yellow kayak highlights the tiers- complete with paddle along with a chocolate woodgrain sign which is inscribed with a birthday wish. I particularly like the perfectly-to-scale life jacket which Jody created!

Ned's Point Lighthouse- An Oldie But Goodie

Every once in a while I pull out a photo from the depths of the files for a bit of nostalgia- like this cake from 2005!

Here is a three tiered buttercream cake topped with a sugarpaste Ned's Point Lighthouse. Each of the 3 tiers is decorated in blue waves with white caps a bit of sugar 'sand' and even sugar rocks and white chocolate seashells.

Lobster Bake Cake @ Falmouth Yacht Club

We created this lobster bake cake for a recent wedding at the Falmouth Yacht Club in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod.

In order to create a realistic Cape Cod Clam Bake we hand sculpted ears of corn, three dimensional quahog and clam shells, razor clams, and muscles from sugar paste. Seaweed was also sculpted in all shades of green and sugar sand was added as well.

In order to make this a true Massachusetts cake the cake flavor was Boston Cream: Vanilla Cake layered with Chocolate Ganache Buttercream and Vanilla Pastry Cream!

We delivered the cake to the reception at the Falmouth Yacht Club in Falmouth, Massachusetts.

Here is what they had to say about the cake:

Dear Meredith,
Thank you so much for the amazing lobster cake. It was perfect (and delicious), and everybody loved it!!!
Cheers,
-Chris

Seashore Themed Cake

We created these cakes for a party at The Bay Club in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.

Dual parties for three teenagers with a theme of the sea shore with pale seafoams, shades of blue and ocean greens were on the table for the color scheme. We created a round three tiered whimsical wave cake design with a pale seafoam background and dark "tiffany blue" wave pattern around the circumference of each tier. The topper included three real starfish each representative of the three girls.

The second cake is a mod circle design also in ocean and sea colors to match the decor and floral centerpieces at the event.

These two cakes show the diversity of color and shape and how similar yet different cakes in the same color scheme can be.

Seaside Classic in Little Compton Rhode Island

I always joke about how fortunate I am to be able to deliver beautiful cakes to beautiful vistas, each one is like a little vacation for me. From Southeastern Massachusetts, to Coastal Rhode Island to Cape Cod and the South Shore the views are fantastic. But beyond that- I love making cakes to match the views!

This classic cake with modern touches was delivered to a summer home on the Sakonnet River in Little Compton, Rhode Island. White and blue seasonal blossoms adorned the tables and this cake sat front and center on the buffet in front of the picture window. Cabbage roses handmade from sugarpaste sat atop the white fondant covered cake with a modern wave detail. We heard the bridal shower was a huge success and the ladies enjoyed the vanilla butter cake with vanilla Italian buttercream.
