Calla Lillies & Vine Wedding Cake @ Marion Road, Rochester, Massachusetts

We created this four tier buttercream wedding cake for a casual outdoor wedding at a private residence in Rochester, Massachusetts.

A chocolate vine with tiny dark chocolate five-petal flowers, with a pearl center, covered the vine along with dark hunter green leaves. A piped buttercream border in varying sizes created a border at the base of each tier & over one dozen white handmade sugarpaste calla lillies cascaded over the top tier.

This design is slightly casual while the calla lillies create a more formal edge.

The cake flavors included vanilla butter cake with raspberry marmalade and devilish chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream.

Fun & Whimsical Wedding Cake

The three tiered buttercreaam designed was hand piped with black swirls, dots, and fun design. Sugarpaste pearls were placed as a border at the base of each tier and a black and white sugarpaste handmade monogram was placed on the side of the top tier.

This hot pink fushia, black, and pearl wedding cake was created for a small wedding ceremony in Taunton, Massachusetts.

This design could easily be translated into a variety of color schemes, or even shades of white and cream for a whimsical addition to a wedding reception.

The cake flavor included vanilla butter cake with buttercream frosting.

Jewel Toned Wedding Cake @ Indian Pond Country Club, Kingston, Massachusetts

I have officially found my favorite wedding & event venue on the South Shore: Indian Pond Country Club @ 60 Country Club Road in Kingston, Massachusetts.

This place is a stunner, we drove the pine-lined drive which opened up to a gorgeous clubhouse and the only word my assistant and I uttered was: "Wow!".

Shades of ivory and small details like raised panel walls, two elaborate mahogany bars, and a high chair rail make the ballroom something reminiscent of Newport, Rhode Island-- however the view of the rolling greens and tall pine trees remind you that you actually are standing on the South Coast of Massachusetts.

The flowers by my new find: Bella Flora by Alexis out of Bridgewater, Massachusetts were breathtaking jewel tones all in seasonal blossoms!

The cake: an ivory four-tier buttercream cake with small piping details: swirl, five petal flowers and scroll work. The decor: seasonal blooms in dark orange, reds, purples, magenta pink, chartreuse green. The blooms: dahlias, zinnias, dendrobium orchids, green spider mums, & spray roses.

A small detail which "made" the whole setup was the hand guilded two-tiered gold board on which the cake sat. This gold pulled from the gold chairs in the ballroom and the gold rimmed chargers set at each guests place setting!

The cake flavor to match the jewel toned wedding: vanilla butter cake with layers of raspberry marmalade and apricot marmalade.

All of these blossoms were used scattered here and there on the cupcake tiers. The cupcakes were simply decorated with a sprinkling of edible glitter.

Lobster Bake Cake @ Falmouth Yacht Club

We created this lobster bake cake for a recent wedding at the Falmouth Yacht Club in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod.

In order to create a realistic Cape Cod Clam Bake we hand sculpted ears of corn, three dimensional quahog and clam shells, razor clams, and muscles from sugar paste. Seaweed was also sculpted in all shades of green and sugar sand was added as well.

In order to make this a true Massachusetts cake the cake flavor was Boston Cream: Vanilla Cake layered with Chocolate Ganache Buttercream and Vanilla Pastry Cream!

We delivered the cake to the reception at the Falmouth Yacht Club in Falmouth, Massachusetts.

Here is what they had to say about the cake:

Dear Meredith,
Thank you so much for the amazing lobster cake. It was perfect (and delicious), and everybody loved it!!!
Cheers,
-Chris

Victory Garden Cake

We created this classic vegetable garden themed buttercream cake for a 50th birthday. Complete with sugarpaste eggplant, split rail fence, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, a little cake and sugar "dirt", shovel spade, and wheel barrow, this garden was complete!

The "50" plaque brought in the accent colors of charcoal and metallic gold.

We consider this type of decor to be "flat art" and is created by hand and takes many hours of sculpting by our two talented artists!

The cake flavor included alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla with oreos and cream filling and was delivered to a home in Acushnet, Massachusetts.

The cake flavor was a delicious Devilish Chocolate Cake with a Toasted Coconut-Mounds inspired filling.

Sculpted Cake: Model T Engine Cake

We created this car engine cake for an 80th Birthday this weekend. The cake replica of a Ford Model T Engine was sculpted in full size to match the original engine. The best part of the story: the customers brought the actual engine to the bakery rather than supplying us with photos. It was such fun perfecting the lettering, cylinders, and other engine parts.

A fan was sculpted from sugarpaste, and then sugar bolts & screws were added - just like the real thing.

The spark plugs to the engine were sculpted out of gumpaste with a flame on top to represent candles.

Our final product measured 20" long by 16" wide and 16" tall.

The car engine cake was delivered to a party in Acushnet, Massachusetts.

Baby Shower Cake: Lambs & Ivy Team Safari

We created this "Lambs & Ivy Team Safari" cake based off of a Baby's R' Us line of bedding, furniture, and clothes. The lion which we created out of sugarpaste and sat on the ledge of the cake. We found the picture of the lion on this lamp below.

Blue and brown color schemes have become very popular for baby showers and create an elegant look, we really enjoy creating cakes around browns and blues.

The cake flavor was alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla, and was delivered to a home in Attleboro Massachusetts.

We received this note from Melinda:

Baby Shower Cake: Safari Monkey

This monkey cake was made especially for a baby shower in Boston, Massachusetts. The brown and blue shower was accented with a moneky theme.

This cake was used as a centerpiece for the main shower dessert: cupcakes.
The idea was based on our popular giraffe baby shower cake which can be seen HERE

The cake flavor included devilish chocolate with vanilla buttercream and cupcakes included vanilla butter or devilish chocolate with assorted vanilla and chocolate ganache buttercream.

Seashore Themed Cake

We created these cakes for a party at The Bay Club in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.

Dual parties for three teenagers with a theme of the sea shore with pale seafoams, shades of blue and ocean greens were on the table for the color scheme. We created a round three tiered whimsical wave cake design with a pale seafoam background and dark "tiffany blue" wave pattern around the circumference of each tier. The topper included three real starfish each representative of the three girls.

The second cake is a mod circle design also in ocean and sea colors to match the decor and floral centerpieces at the event.

These two cakes show the diversity of color and shape and how similar yet different cakes in the same color scheme can be.

Wedding Cupcake Display @ Tabor Academy

We delivered this simple cupcake display yesterday to a wedding at Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts. Sugar Paste Flowers: Gerbera Daisies

I love the process of flower making and so does our resident arist: Jodi. Although her original mediums of choice were clay and acrylic paint she has adapted well to sugarpaste and edible paint(food colors mixed with lemon extract).

Here are some pretty gerbera daisies she was in the process of making today....

Although she can spend up to 4 minutes on these little flowers and 2 hours on one large magnolia blossom, don't let her time fool you....she actually has the best spot in the bakery: climate controlled at 63 degrees with 50% humidity. And by the way, the rest of the bakery was running around 87 degrees today with 80% humidity.
