Sculpted Cake: Model T Engine Cake

We created this car engine cake for an 80th Birthday this weekend. The cake replica of a Ford Model T Engine was sculpted in full size to match the original engine. The best part of the story: the customers brought the actual engine to the bakery rather than supplying us with photos. It was such fun perfecting the lettering, cylinders, and other engine parts.

A fan was sculpted from sugarpaste, and then sugar bolts & screws were added - just like the real thing.

The spark plugs to the engine were sculpted out of gumpaste with a flame on top to represent candles.

Our final product measured 20" long by 16" wide and 16" tall.

The car engine cake was delivered to a party in Acushnet, Massachusetts.

Meredith:

The cake was perfect and so were the cookies. I was so proud to have provided them. One thing would be good – next time include your cards so interested people can take one.

Seashore Themed Cake

We created these cakes for a party at The Bay Club in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.

Dual parties for three teenagers with a theme of the sea shore with pale seafoams, shades of blue and ocean greens were on the table for the color scheme. We created a round three tiered whimsical wave cake design with a pale seafoam background and dark "tiffany blue" wave pattern around the circumference of each tier. The topper included three real starfish each representative of the three girls.

The second cake is a mod circle design also in ocean and sea colors to match the decor and floral centerpieces at the event.

These two cakes show the diversity of color and shape and how similar yet different cakes in the same color scheme can be.
