Pink Ombre!

If you say ombre - we say YAY!  Here is a fabulous example of an ombre design (one color varying from light to dark on a tiered cake) for a wedding with a pink theme.   From fushia to light bubblegum pink- even the ribbons are edible! Cheers, Meredith

Buttercream Flat Art Cakes: Toyota FJ Cruiser

Here is a buttercream flat art cake that we created for a child's birthday party. Our buttercream flat art cakes are a simply frosted buttercream cake with a two-dimensional design on the top, in this case a Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Flat art cakes can be done in any number of designs, just remember that the design on the top is two-dimensional and sits flat on the cake itself. The great part about these cakes is that they are custom-- in any design and in any color scheme and the cake is iced in buttercream!

Victory Garden Cake

We created this classic vegetable garden themed buttercream cake for a 50th birthday. Complete with sugarpaste eggplant, split rail fence, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, a little cake and sugar "dirt", shovel spade, and wheel barrow, this garden was complete!

The "50" plaque brought in the accent colors of charcoal and metallic gold.

We consider this type of decor to be "flat art" and is created by hand and takes many hours of sculpting by our two talented artists!

The cake flavor included alternating layers of chocolate and vanilla with oreos and cream filling and was delivered to a home in Acushnet, Massachusetts.

The cake flavor was a delicious Devilish Chocolate Cake with a Toasted Coconut-Mounds inspired filling.

Wedding Cupcake Display @ Tabor Academy

We delivered this simple cupcake display yesterday to a wedding at Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts. The color scheme was set in shades of pale pinks, and the bride had requested a simple cupcake display with only scattered flowers. Azaleas were her flower of choice and each had a sugarpaste pearl center.

The cupcake stand was custom trimmed in a pale pink grosgrain ribbon to match the decor of the event. We can customize any cupcake stand in any ribbon color or have the stands painted to match the decor of the event.

The cupcakes included vanilla butter and devilish chocolate with vanilla buttercream.

Also, here is the copy of the jungle baby griaffe invitation that we used to make the giraffe on the baby shower cake....

Sugar Paste Flowers: Gerbera Daisies

I love the process of flower making and so does our resident arist: Jodi. Although her original mediums of choice were clay and acrylic paint she has adapted well to sugarpaste and edible paint(food colors mixed with lemon extract).

Here are some pretty gerbera daisies she was in the process of making today....

Although she can spend up to 4 minutes on these little flowers and 2 hours on one large magnolia blossom, don't let her time fool you....she actually has the best spot in the bakery: climate controlled at 63 degrees with 50% humidity. And by the way, the rest of the bakery was running around 87 degrees today with 80% humidity.

Seasonal Decor: Sunflowers

Well, it's summer here in the South Coast of Massachusetts and the sunflowers are blooming at the farm down the street. As I looked at the vase of them sitting on my front coutner today I realized-- we should really make some of those for birthday cakes.

Chartreuse Stripes and SeaShells: CupCake Display

We created this CupCake Display for a Bridal Shower at the Halifax Country Club. Chartreuse green stripes covered the top cake while the cupcakes were simply frosted in pale green frosting and white buttercream.

The top cake featured a seashell topper, this time we used seashells straight from the beach so the bride could save them as a keepsake. Each cupcake was sprinkled with a tiny bit of turbinado sugar for a sandy look and the cupcake stand was decorated with a few shells and bit of sand as well.
